Outerwear wears out at the zipper, the lining and the pocket bags long before the outer fabric is finished.
What usually goes wrong
A good winter jacket or coat lasts for years in terms of its outer fabric, but three things give way earlier: the zipper that no longer holds, the lining that tears at the underarm or across the back, and the pocket bags that wear through. Any one of them makes the garment unwearable while the jacket itself is still sound.
What we do
We do the four most common outerwear jobs: replace the zipper, replace the lining, replace the pocket bags and shorten the sleeves. For leather jackets, leather coats and shearling each job has its own price, because leather and fur have to be sewn differently and take longer.

What the garment needs is decided on inspection — what looks like a lining replacement often turns out to be a seam repair, and the other way round. Lining and zipper prices are labour only; the material is added. Bring the garment in and we will tell you what can be done with it.

Common questions
The lining is torn — does the whole lining need replacing?
Not always. A single opened seam is a repair, not a lining replacement. Replacing the whole lining comes up when the material itself has worn through in several places. We decide that on inspection.
Do you repair leather jackets and shearling coats?
For leather jackets, leather coats and shearling we do zipper replacement, lining replacement, pocket bag replacement and sleeve shortening — each has its own price in the list. Any other leather work has to be agreed separately; bring the garment in so we can look at it.
Can the pockets on a winter jacket be repaired?
Yes. The most common pocket problem is a worn-through pocket bag — it gets replaced, and the outside of the jacket is unchanged. Pocket bag replacement has its own price for jackets and coats, and a separate one for leather garments.
The sleeves are too long — can that be changed?
Yes. Sleeve shortening has its own price for jackets, coats and leather jackets, and a separate one for cuffed sleeves, because a cuff means taking the sleeve apart and putting it back together.
