Trouser and Jeans Shortening in Tallinn
We shorten trousers to the right length and finish the hem the way it was originally made.
What usually goes wrong
Off-the-rack trousers are cut to one standard length. If they are too long, the leg bunches at the heel, the hem wears through, and the line of the trouser over the shoe is lost. Usually the garment itself is perfectly fine — only the length is wrong.
What we do
We measure the length with the shoes you actually wear with these trousers, shorten the leg and finish the hem. On jeans the original hem can be kept: the factory hem is cut off, the leg is shortened, and the same hem is sewn back on, so the fading and colour stay as they were.
On sports pants the job depends on how the leg ends. A plain hem, a drawstring, a cuff, or a drawstring together with a cuff are each a different job at a different price, because the drawstring and the cuff have to come off and go back on after shortening.

Common questions
Do I need to bring shoes?
Yes — it is the single most useful thing to bring. Heel height changes the required length by several centimetres, so without shoes the length stays a guess.
Can the original jeans hem be kept?
Yes. It is a separate job at a separate price, because the factory hem is cut off and sewn back on after shortening. The result keeps the jeans’ own hem, with its wear and colour.
Is the listed price final?
The listed price is the labour price for the garment named. The final cost is agreed at the counter after the garment is inspected, because the fabric, the lining and the type of hem all affect how much work it is.
Can I go to either atelier?
Yes. Shortening is done at both ateliers — Kivila 26 in Lasnamäe and Õismäe tee 107a in Õismäe.
